Elderly Affairs

An officer in the CPU serves as the department�s elderly affairs officer/advocate, who follows up on reports concerning elderly residents who may need social services and assists with many different issues that may affect the elderly; such as, self-neglect, dementia, Alzheimer�s, and elder abuse. Certain CPU officers, including the elderly affairs officer, maintain a working relationship with the City of Pawtucket Division of Senior Services, the Rhode Island Office of Healthy Aging, and the East Bay Community Action Program. These CPU officers are often in contact with personnel from the Rhode Island Office of Healthy Aging regarding various issues (some involving criminal conduct) affecting the elderly.
